What we do insist on is that the post be original and not be published elsewhere. You are
free to put up a short excerpt of the post at your blog site , but not the entire post as that is duplication of content. We will acknowledge the name of the author and the blog’s name in your post (but of course).
I was recently asked this question – is your blog pro-left or right-wing conservative (are
you pro-this religion or that, etc and the list can go on). The answer is neither/none. The
blog is intended to be an open forum. If you feel that the blog is veering in one direction
(and it can happen as people are penning their independent views) - instead of
complaining, I would urge you to roll up your sleeves and pen your own views. Be pro-active!
I have also been asked – what kind of posts do you like. This is actually irrelevant for the
following reason. I think of writings/postings as a work of art – in fact, I like and collect
modern art. What makes for good modern art ? Not necessarily something that is visually
appealing - but most likely something that “shocks or surprises” – the same possibly (again
I don’t want to give any direction) applies to blog posts.
Our website is intended to be an Op-Ed (that which expresses the opinions of writers
unaffiliated with formal newspapers/newspaper’s editorial boards) – and we welcome
opinions and discussions ( as long as no laws are violated). Most internet media sites have
become “soft” – take the middle road and focus on advertorials (advertisements hidden as editorials or news) – our belief is that it is okay to have a view. Again to repeat for the sake of repeating – Follow your beliefs/ideology, don’t take the middle path and pen those thoughts.
This is not just about Politics, we welcome Op-Ed’s on any current events – Sporting Events (which our esteemed Supreme Court has stipulated is an expression of one’s Self),
Community events, Bollywood, etc. – in short you can express your opinions on any matter – its your opinion after all.
Structure of the Op-Ed/Do’s
We expect Op-Ed’s to be at least a 500 - 1000 words in length and have a few pictures. You can simply draft the post using Microsoft Word, or anything similar and email it to us along with the images as attachments to: editor@innlive.net with the subject “Article Submission”.
Please organize the post in paragraphs with relevant paragraph headers – else the post just appears as grey text to most readers. We expect not just the post to be opinionated but also the title – else no one may read it.
Dont’s
No discriminatory comments will be tolerated on any caste, creed, etc. No adult content,
adult language, abusive language, un-necessary adult references, “f-words”, etc will be
allowed. Please keep the posts “discussion-worthy”.
There can be no blanket statements like “He is an idiot” – what is the relevance of this
statement ? – if you are against the policies or actions of a party or an individual, then lay
down your opinions on why you disagree and what should be done to remedy the
situation.
Article are from various authors , but are added to the website by us. If you think we have made a mistake and that an article is clearly offensive and not in the form of a debate / discussion that adds value to free speech/democracy – please do inform us. But we do believe in “Freedom of Speech and Expression” – meaning that we will not take down posts just because someone does not like it , but that we will take it down because it is not in the spirit of an objective discussion.
Comments are moderated – but since anyone can post a comment – there can be a delay in moderation (if you feel we have missed a comment that should have been moderated out – please let us know). Certainly any comments with abusive words will not be accepted and deleted as soon as possible.
Conditions
The Op-Ed should be original and not taken from any other source (or published previously).
Contributors retain full property rights to their posts, granting INNLIVE license to use them in perpetuity. INNLIVE does not review or condone, implicitly or explicitly, the material published.
In adding the articles to the web-site we reserve the right to make a few edits – hopefully these will be very small in the nature of spelling corrections, dangling phrases, etc and not any change in meaning or direction of the editorial/view.
The decision to accept any post resides with the administrators of the site.The terms can be changed at any time and all terms are the discretion of the administrators of the site.
